Description

PK 111 + 11.1, also known as DeHt 5, is either a planetary or an emission nebula. The only scientific paper I found so far (from 2010) says DeHt 5 is an old PN whose optical morphology clearly demonstrates interaction with the ISM, and that the intrinsic morphology of the PN may have been largely destroyed by the PN–ISM interaction. But I have found other references (nothing scientific though) mentioning it was thought to be a PN but it ended up being an emission nebula. It is around 1,300 light-years away from Earth.

If anyone has some more recent references, please share them.

This is a very faint target and a very bland one. I noticed it two years ago when I imaged VdB 152 with a smaller focal length telescope. I did my best to bring out as much details as possible.

Comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Clear skies.
